Just waiting on the @barnes4wd one ton swap kit to come back in stock!

What happens here

Begin by securely clamping the metal shaft and the larger metal housing component in a sturdy workbench vise. Ensure the parts are perfectly aligned in the desired configuration for welding. Apply several small, intermittent tack welds around the joint. These initial welds are crucial for holding the components in place and preventing movement or warpage during the main welding process. The welder is shown initiating the first tack weld.

Goal: Securely position and temporarily join metal parts

Tools and materials

  • Welding Gloves — Protecting hands from heat, sparks, and UV radiation
  • Welding Helmet — Protecting the eyes and face from intense light, heat, and sparks
  • Welding Machine — Applying tack welds to join the metal pieces
  • Workbench Vise — Holding the metal components securely in place during alignment and tack welding
  • Metal Housing — The larger component to which the shaft is welded, possibly an axle housing
  • Metal Shaft — Component to be welded
  • Welding Electrode/Wire — Creating the weld joint
