What happens here

This project provides a concise guide on how to disassemble a Dana 60 differential. The process involves removing the pinion nut, leveraging out the main differential carrier assembly, and then extracting the pinion gear from the housing. This preparation is a foundational step for further modifications or rebuilds, such as installing new gears and lockers.

So, I just want to jump on here real quick. I'm taking the gears out of the Dana 60 here. And I was going to make a full video on this like I did the 14 bolt, but there's so many videos online of it already. I don't know if it's necessary. The next video I'll do on these axles will be welding the truss. Anyways, keep this short and simple for you guys. So, pull this out. You're going to want to pull the pinion nut off the back. That's a inch and 5/16 nut. Um, pull it off of there. And then this, just get a pry bar in there. and see it moving. so took two hands, but I just wiggled it out. Popped right out. And then this right here, your pinion, just uh just lift up. That'll come right out of there. Now, these axles should be good to uh set that in there. I'll set this all to the side. I'm going to get new gears and lockers and stuff, so it doesn't really matter. But, um, no. Yeah, everything's stripped out.
