What happens here

The presenter outlines his future plans for both projects. For the axles, he plans to install a Barnes 4WD truss (preferring it over Artec for cost-effectiveness), re-gear, and complete the cleaning and painting. For the J20, he is waiting for an engine and transmission for an engine swap, which he expects in two weeks. He plans to install motor mounts from BJ's Off-Road and modify the transmission crossmember. Eventually, he'll create a paint booth in his garage to prepare the J20 body panels using a DA sander and paint them. He asks viewers for advice on choosing a new welder, considering the ESAB EM 210 and Miller 211.

Goal: Outline the next steps for both the Jeep J20 restoration and the LJ axle build, including component choices and required tools.

Tools and materials

  • Air Compressor — Powering pneumatic tools like DA sanders and for painting
  • Barnes 4WD Truss Barnes 4WD — Reinforcing the axles
  • DA Sander — Preparing body panels for paint
  • Motor Mounts BJ's Off-Road — Installing the new engine in the J20
  • New Welder ESAB EM 210 — Welding components for both projects
  • Paint Booth DIY — Providing a controlled environment for painting the J20 body panels
  • Transmission Crossmember — Supporting the new transmission in the J20
  • Engine — Engine swap for the J20
  • Transmission — Transmission swap for the J20

progress I had made and then what we have left yet. So here we go. So here's what the progress that I've made. This looks horrible, right? Like I got to watch some videos tonight or something and see how to go about getting this off. Um, but then this will all just be a grinding wheel and I'll I'll take more of my cutting wheel and I'll kind of get that all off there. I haven't even started this side yet. I think I'm going to go with the Barnes truss only because it's cheaper. I'm gonna go with the Barnes four-wheel drive truss. Um, I know a lot of you guys I think it's Rekch is what a lot of you guys run, but [snorts] I'm going to go with Barnes cuz this is half the price and I have a little bit more time to fab it up. So, I'm going to go with the 14bolt Barnes, the 60 Barnes. I think the 14 is out of stock for the TJ LJ swap. So, we'll have to see. And then after I get it all put on, we'll start gears, shafts, and stuff, brakes, and stuff. Um, I do need a new welder. [snorts] I'm looking at the ESOB EM 210. Um, just the MIG welder or the Miller 211, Millermatic 211. >> [snorts] >> Um, I'm tempted tempted to get the um Arc Captain. I've been watching a lot of videos is putting down some good welds, but I don't know if I trust it. So, anyways, stay tuned. I'm going to swap between this project and the J20 project as the winter progresses. Um, in two weeks we are gonna have the engine supposedly gonna have the engine for the J20. Um, I got to run down south like four or five hours to go grab it. So hopefully I can get that mounted in. I got the brackets from BJ's Off-Road >> for the uh motor mounts and then we'll get those put in there. We'll get the transmission crossmember put in there. I do have that all painted up. I might have to make some modifications to that. But um and then we're going to do a little paint booth in here and we'll get the compressor, the 60-gallon compressor built up and we'll start hitting it with a DA sander. Once we start hitting a DA sander, we can go through weld it all, patch it all, prime it all, and then these axles I'll kind of just do in the middle of uh if I'm painting or if I just don't want to work on the J20 or whatever. So stay tuned. We're gonna we're gonna do both projects. I'm going to try not to do um two projects in one video. Like if it's a if it's a one ton series, I'm going to keep the one tons separate from the J20 and if it's J20 series, I'll keep the J20, whatever, so on and so forth. Um I…
