Instructions & Tutorials Preparing Concrete For Epoxy. Acid Etching Hacks.

What happens here

The muriatic acid is mixed with water in a plastic pump sprayer. The presenter recommends a dilution ratio of 75% acid to 25% water. This mixing should be done in an outdoor area away from plants or other susceptible surfaces to prevent damage from undiluted acid spills. It's crucial to always add acid to water, not water to acid, to prevent a vigorous exothermic reaction (splashing and heat generation).

Goal: Dilute muriatic acid safely for application.

Tools and materials

  • Muriatic Acid MR. CLEAN — The primary etching agent
  • Plastic Pump Sprayer — Holding and applying the acid solution
  • Water Tap water — Diluting the muriatic acid

got moratic acid and this is what we're using to etch the floor. And I've got a a plastic pump sprayer and I actually add the moratic acid into the pump sprayer. And I typically don't use it 100%. I use about 75% acid to 25% water. And I'll show you. We're going to go ahead and mix our acid and water together. You want to make sure you don't use this acid anywhere on the concrete anywhere. You want to do it someplace where um it's not going to kill any plants or cause any problems. And just in case you spill it and I'm over here on the side of the yard that it doesn't matter if I get the acid on the ground. And the acid just for safety reasons too. Uh we've got a hose sitting here right here. And the hose just in case you spilled some acid or something the hose the water will dilute the acid. You want to use a sprayer that's all plastic. If you get a metal sprayer, the acid will uh ruin the metal. So, we use a sprayer that's all plastic with plastic tips.
