Installing A Waterproof Ceiling On a Deck!

What happens here

Before installing any stone veneer, ensure the outdoor kitchen wall, typically framed with 2x4s and sheathed with plywood, is properly protected from moisture. First, unroll and staple house wrap, such as OKS Wrap, across the plywood sheathing. Ensure each layer overlaps the previous one to create a continuous barrier. Trim any excess house wrap with a utility knife. Next, apply 15-pound roofing felt paper over the house wrap. Start at the bottom of the wall and overlap successive layers in a 'shingle' fashion, moving upwards, to further enhance moisture protection. Secure the felt paper with a staple gun.

Goal: Wrap the framed outdoor kitchen wall with house wrap and then apply 15-pound roofing felt paper to provide a weather-resistant barrier before stone veneer installation.
