Install Composite Cocktail Rail

Installing A Waterproof Ceiling On a Deck!
What happens here
Begin by measuring the distance between the railing posts for the cocktail rail. The builder prefers a 1-inch overhang on each end, so measure the post-to-post distance and add 2 inches. Identify the locations of the railing brackets on the top rail. Place the cut composite deck board on top of the railing, ensuring the desired overhang, and mark the locations where the railing brackets interfere with the board's underside. Use a router to carefully remove material from the underside of the composite board at the marked bracket locations. This allows the board to sit flush on the top rail. Pre-drill pilot holes from the bottom of the top railing into the composite board and then secure the cocktail rail using screws. Ensure precise placement by clamping the board down and double-checking measurements before final fastening.
Goal: Measure and cut a composite deck board to create a cocktail rail for the existing cable railing system. The board is routed to fit over the railing brackets and then secured from underneath.
