Installing A Waterproof Ceiling On a Deck!

What happens here

Begin installing the Zip-Up Underdeck pitch rails. These rails are designed to create the necessary slope for the underdeck system. Attach the first pitch rail to the deck joists, typically every 4 feet. Measure the desired drop (e.g., 4 inches) from the bottom of the deck beam to establish the starting height. Use wooden shims, cut to appropriate sizes, to pack down the pitch rails and achieve the consistent slope required for water runoff. The video demonstrates a system that pitches 1/8 inch per foot. Secure the pitch rails to the joists using screws. When longer sections are needed, two pitch rails can be taped together with duct tape for easier handling and installation. Continuously measure and adjust to maintain the precise pitch across the entire underdeck area.

Goal: Measure and install the Zip-Up Underdeck pitch rails perpendicular to the deck joists, creating a sloped ceiling for water drainage.
