Spray Lap Overlaps at an Angle

What happens here

Lap siding has overlapping boards that create grooves. To ensure these areas are fully covered, especially when painting a dark color over a lighter base, you must spray at an angle. Instead of spraying straight onto the siding, tilt your spray gun slightly upwards (or downwards, depending on the angle of the lap) to direct the paint into the underside of the overlapping boards. This technique ensures that the hidden sections and grooves receive adequate paint coverage, preventing visible unpainted lines or 'stripes' once the paint dries.
