How to paint a house (the prep process). Pressure Washing Tips.

In this video, we're going to show you our prep process, how we go about getting the home ready to paint. And the first step that we go through is we actually power wash the house. And we come out here and we're going to be here today. We're going to power wash this home. And then after power washing it, we're going to let it dry for a day. And then we're going to come back and walk you through this the prep process that we go through. I'm going to start up this power washer and show you how I go about power washing it. I've got two tips in my pocket that we'll be using. I've got a a red straight one. to reach the high areas and then we'll be using a yellow tip to actually power wash the lower areas. So, we're going to turn this power wash to the on on position. It's off choke cuz it's warm warmed up right now. We actually use the power washer to actually clean any uh loose dirt and dust, spiderw webs, try to knock down any um hornets nests and and we also use a power wash to do um some of the initial stripping of paint. That's this is the initial prep process, the power washing that we go through um one day prior to prepping the house. Uh doing the caulking, priming, and sanding and any other prep work. This is Chris from B This is Chris from BNK Painting. In this video, we're going to walk you through our prep process that we go through in painting an exterior of a home. This house we're working on, we're actually getting ready to paint it um in one or two days and we're going to be painting the house and also staining the fence. So, at this point in time, we got our crew here. We got Maddie Jitsy back powering the fence. We're here getting ready. Brooke over here, Barry, she's been cocking, getting ready to go power wash another house. We got both vans here working on this house. So, we've got GMO Gonzaga over here doing the cocking and we've already gone um had Drew Zimmerman walk around the house. We've tooken off any the house numbers and lights. So, there are some house numbers right here that we took off and we actually they were brass house numbers and actually to update those house numbers, we actually primed them and we're going to be painting them black. We have them sitting right here. We actually just set them on a cardboard at the address they are so they don't get messed up and then we prime the screws and the numbers and then we're going to paint them black which is more up to date to current standards. We've got some cocking on the interior we've already started. We coaul all the trim corner boards. Got some nail heads that we've been cocking. So we're going through the cocking process. We're going to be doing some sanding, power uh sanding and peel bonding. We'll be taking off all hose fixtures and so forth. When this all this cocking and primer is dry for tomorrow, we'll come back and power wash the house. We got Matty Jity back power washing the fence, stripping the fence to actually get ready to solid color stain it. Drew Zimmerman's going to be trimming plants. We don't want any plants touching the house. So, we trim them back about a foot to two foot. Walk back here and see video. Matt is power washing the fence. We're here sanding a door jam. We're getting ready to peel bond it. We use a paint eater to actually sand that door jamb. This is Chris from BNK Painting. We're here back at this exterior. We got this exterior all prepped and ready to go. We're going to be power washing it now. We took off numbers. You can see the cocking we've done all around the house. the door jambs. We moved numbers. It's pretty dirty. Removed lights. Um, we actually got the numbers now painted black, sitting there ready to go. We're going to be removing the door to paint the door when we get ready to paint the house. But here's some of the cocking. We've got some peel bond some areas that were peeling and had some blistering. So, we use XIM peel bond to actually go over those areas. But you can see all the cocking that we've done. We've actually trimmed the plants back on this house to 2 feet back from the whole house. Here's some more peel bond that we've done on some blistering. And we're going around this. We didn't trim the plants over here because they're just up against brick. So, we there was no need to trim them. We've actually powerwashed the fence of this house cuz we're actually going to do the fence at the same time. Here's some more cocking. The same day we paint, which would be tomorrow, we would power wash or we'd actually stain the fence. Here's some more peel bond. We've got this door jam sanded. Got a and peel bonded. Here's a look at the fence after being power washed and stripped. Completely stripped all the old wood off it so it'll stain. We're going to use a solid color stain. We've now removed all the plants, cut them back 2 feet from the house. You can see all the cocking that we've done in the prep. This house is ready to go to be painted as soon as we're done powerwashing.
