How To Make A Wood Sign. Sign Making Tips With A Router.

What happens here

Begin by preparing your wooden board with the desired design. Print your design onto vinyl using a vinyl printer. Carefully apply this vinyl template to the wooden board. Once the vinyl is securely in place, cover the entire design with clear packing tape. This tape serves two purposes: it helps keep the vinyl firmly adhered to the wood during routing and reduces burring, allowing the router base to glide smoothly over the surface.

Goal: Create a stable and protected template for routing on the wooden board.

Tools and materials

  • Packing Tape — Securing the vinyl template and providing a smooth surface for the router
  • Vinyl Design — Creating the template for the routed areas
  • Vinyl Printer — Printing the sign design onto vinyl
  • Wooden Board

route this thing, Eric. Uh, and this is the sign. So, he wanted to uh somehow integrate the YouTube logo and the subscribe button. So, I did. So, I kind of put his logo on there. Now, if you guys have been watching for a while, then you know that the way I uh get my sometimes get my designs on the board is I have a vinyl printer. So, I printed this out on vinyl and stuck it down and then I covered it with packing tape. That helps keep the the vinyl stuck down. Uh and it helps u kind of reduce the burring as I'm routing through the the uh the actual vinyl. Um, and it also helps the router base slide on there real well. So, um, stick with me cuz this one is going to be really a challenge. Some of this, uh, some of this detail in here. Uh, but we'll come right back and get into the carving.
