How To Paint Cabinet Doors. Painting kitchen cabinets EASY

This is Chris, the Idaho painter. In this video, we're going to show you how we go about painting cabinet doors and shelves. We got a simple system of using cup hook cup hooks and hangers to spray these things so we can spray all sides, top and bottom, and everything without having to set them down on anything. It's a simple little system. So, stay tuned to watch how we do this. So, here's one of the doors right here. And I got these little cup hooks that we've already installed right here. Hopefully, you can see that. And the process is this is a door that's actually this one came off a lower cabinet right here. And so you're going to remove the cabinet door and you're going to decide what side or where you're actually going to put those cup hooks cuz you got to just you got to drill two little holes to screw them into. And you definitely want to drill some little pilot holes in there. It makes it really easy to screw the cup hooks in and so they don't actually split your door, split the wood. So these cup hooks, for instance, this door is down low, really low towards the floor. It came off of a vanity. And when you unscrew these things, these holes on the bottom, nobody could actually ever see these things. So now, if you had an upper door, a higher door, like a bigger cabinet door, you could probably see the bottom of it. So you wouldn't want to do your holes in the bottom. You'd want to do it in the top. Now, I have asked as people ask me, do you actually go back and fill them and touch them up? And yeah, we have a on on occasion gone back filled them. All we do is just put some spackle in them and touch them up. And it's simple to touch up. But you really don't have to do that because you can actually never see it on these door on the majority of your doors. But if you can see those holes, they're actually really easy just to put a little piece of spackle on them and then take a little brush with your lacquer and touch them up. So, here's this door. Once I determined where I'm actually going to put this thing, I'm going to show you these little cup hooks. So, these are just little simple little cup hooks that we actually just buy from our local hardwood store, hardware store. If you can see that little tiny thing, it's just a little tiny cup hook. And I got my drill here. And we use a 70 764 bit. And you're just going to drill a little tiny pilot hole in there. It doesn't have to be very deep. It only goes in uh probably about an eighth of an inch or so. And then you just take screw your cup hook in just like this. And now you got two cup hooks. I already got the other one installed. You can see it's just I got two holes. Just drilled a little tiny hole. Now this thing is going to hang from our hanger. And it actually spins on our hanger. We have it, you know, hanging high enough on our rack where we can spray, you know, the bottom of it, the top of it, and that way you never have to actually lay this thing down. So, now here's the system. Once your cup hooks are in, all I do is set it right on my hanger. And these hangers are really cool, these wooden hangers that actually spin and rotate like this. And this is, you know, an inexpensive hanger. And I just bought them by the bundle at my local hardwoods hardware store. And I I don't think I paid, you know, more than like $5 for a bundle of six or something like that of these things. But you got to have a hanger that swivels like this. This is what makes the whole process really easy. So it'll apply to anything that actually hangs. And it's easy to spray around it. And then we just take this thing, walk over and we actually hang them. You take a like a 24 ft ladder, set it on two 6 ft ladders, and then you start hanging your shelves or doors right on that ladder. Simple little process. Once again, these are just little cup hooks that we screw in to the end right here. And this is the shelf that actually faces the wall. So, you won't see that hole. Once you're done, you just unscrew these little cup hooks just like this. And the shelf is done. We had about 10 of these shelves to paint. And we sprayed them all high gloss just like that. So, we got our PV stand sitting right here. Got one of our shelves we're spraying right here. It's actually hanging from our wooden hanger. And we've got it centered in between, you know, two uh slip joints in the PVC so the hanger doesn't slide around. Give you a little closer look of that. There's it. And we'll show you spraying one of them how it actually spins and turns. Yeah. Go ahead. So, there you have it. The simple and easy way to paint cabinet doors and shelves.
