What happens here

This video details the diagnosis and repair of an intermittent headlight issue on a Honda CR-V. The problem was identified as likely stemming from a loose electrical connection and excessive, potentially non-standard, grease within the bulb connector. The repair involved disconnecting, cleaning, inspecting, and re-securing the bulb and its electrical connections, effectively resolving the flickering headlight without replacing any fuses. The video also highlights the importance of proper electrical contact for headlight operation.

hey folks that fixing guy here and today we're going to be looking at my crv so i've been rolling around town looking like a pirate i don't know how many people have told me at this point that i've got a headlight out and then all i got to do is this here and go boom magic alright so we got to figure out why this light is shorting out like this i mean i'm all about tapping it looking like a cool guy but in all reality if i can just get people to stop telling me that it headlights out i think my life's gonna be a little bit smoother alright so come along let's get to [Music] [Applause] [Music] fixing okay so here is where the light connects down in here and we're just going to go ahead and we're going to try to pop that off and it's all greased up man totally greased up in there does that supposed to be like that i've ever seen it so i'm supposed to be so greased up i mean is that a thing wow what is that i don't honestly think i've ever seen that okay well we're just gonna give that a little bit of a clean out if somebody can tell me they're supposed to be all this grease in here i mean maybe it's some kind of like continuity stuff but man it sure seems like there's a lot of grease in here i don't know man i'll have to google that in a minute check that out yeah dude it's just packed in there it's so weird so the other ones like that too i'm assuming that's supposed to be that way um let's just clean that up a little bit that's it dude so the next thing we're going to do is we're just going to take this boot right here and we're going to pop that off get that boot right there off of there i can't get down in here with that i can't show you without actually taking any of that apart um so there's the light bulb we'll see what we can do about getting in there to show you so there's this little retainer clip right here that kind of wraps around and holds that light bulb in place down inside that hole you see what i can do with my camera i don't know if i can get in there i guess we can't get our fingers in there or anything good so you can kind of see that retainer clip right there that's his little inside area so that rotator clip just holds the light in there sorry it's kind of blurry it doesn't go so well this close up i guess maybe it does so there's a retainer clip light goes in there [Music] and we'll just see see if we can get it held in place and put her back in i think it looks good in there like the filament's not broken everything's still together it's not like the light doesn't work so let's just put it back together maybe it just was a little bit loose there okay so we've taken this out like this well this flat side is going to go down on the bottom okay so we're going gonna take this we're gonna put it back in everything looks good i'm really hoping that it's just something was a little bit loose there like i don't know does anybody else have any ideas of why this was doing that so you can see that this clip down in here it's on and it's really everything in there is pretty tight so if you guys like the content please subscribe to the channel and i really could use a little help here i'm just wondering why first question because i don't know that i've ever seen this and i guess i haven't really changed so many light bulbs in my time but what is the paste i mean is it like a conductor type paste like something that you would put on electric like i know um whenever i've done water heaters in the past and i've had like aluminum lines they had like some conductivity paste or something that you would put on those when you hook up the other wire heater with the copper so i mean maybe it's something like that i don't know i'd love to know please somebody could help me out with that it'd be great and then the second thing is has anybody else had any other issue like this where your light's not broke and it just goes on and off once in a while we're just gonna go ahead and put this bad boy back in place so you just kind of get it around the middle of that just make sure it's around the light bulb itself and then it just kind of pops in place just seals right in there super easy so just remember the top of this uh little tetris style shape right here goes on top just take it out the way you put it back in clips right in place and there we go so let's go take it for a ride right now we'll run around we'll hit some bumpy roads we'll come back and we'll check it check that out that's pretty awesome because typically it had gone out by now so rock and roll all right so i started shooting but my neighbor came past so i had to redo it so here we go i just found out about bulb grease i ended up looking it up i found a video on putting bulb grease in i've never seen this before of course i haven't really changed too many headlights in my life and i know that my tacoma did not have no bulb grease in it so if you guys could leave me some comments about bulb grease like is that a necessity thing or is it just a thing is that the reason why my light keeps going out like i don't really know why i'm really hoping that it doesn't go out anymore all right so from here to the gas station back it was fine you seen it when it got back it's still on i'll let you know after i drive it for a couple days but for now i'm heading to the stony ridge so i really hope this video helps if you guys could please click that subscribe button it would be greatly appreciated we're just trying to help people out and i'm also trying to help myself out right i love just trying to fix things man i will just do it just fix your own stuff like that's what i'm about i like it i like to tinker i like to try it out and i have questions too right i'll go to the internet and i'll ask my subscribers it seems like i have a really a lot of awesome subs man that just have a wealth of knowledge everybody always great comments i really appreciate everything thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon
