What happens here
Prepare the project site by clearing away all existing vegetation, such as grass and shrubs, and removing any debris from the designated patio area. Use spray paint or string and stakes to clearly mark the exact perimeter of the patio and the footprint of the retaining wall. Begin excavation, digging out the marked area to the necessary depth. This depth will typically accommodate the thickness of your chosen pavers, a 1-inch bedding sand layer, and a 4-6 inch compacted gravel base. For the retaining wall, excavate a trench that is wider than the wall blocks and deep enough to accommodate a compacted gravel base for the first course. Ensure the excavated area slopes slightly away from any adjacent structures to facilitate drainage.
Goal: Clear the area and excavate to the required depth for the patio base and retaining wall foundation.
