Final Backfill and Grading

What happens here
Once the retaining wall has reached its desired height and the gravel backfill is completed and fully compacted, fold any excess geotextile fabric over the top of the gravel backfill layer. This completely encloses the drainage material, preventing any native soil from migrating into it and compromising its effectiveness. Then, backfill the remaining area behind the wall with native soil or fresh topsoil, covering the fabric and creating a finished grade. Ensure the final grade slopes gently away from the top of the wall (e.g., a 2% grade) to direct surface water runoff away from the wall. Finally, plant grass or other suitable vegetation on the finished grade to prevent soil erosion and integrate the wall into the landscape.
Goal: Finish the area behind the wall with native soil and establish a final grade for aesthetics and erosion control.
