First ceiling install went smooth but we've got a pretty wild application for it coming up next!! 🫣

What happens here

Begin by carefully positioning the first tongue and groove plank. This plank needs to be perfectly straight and square to serve as a reference for all subsequent planks. Use a hammer to gently tap the plank into its initial position, ensuring it's snug against the starting edge (e.g., a wall or beam). Once aligned, use a nail gun loaded with appropriate finishing nails to secure the plank to the ceiling joists. Nail through the 'tongue' part of the board at an angle (blind nailing) to conceal the fasteners, or face-nail if the edge will be covered by trim later.

Goal: Establish a straight and secure starting point for the ceiling installation

Tools and materials

  • Air Compressor — Powering pneumatic nail guns
  • Hammer — Gently tapping planks into position
  • Nail Gun Milwaukee — Securing the tongue and groove planks to the ceiling joists
  • Safety Glasses — Protecting eyes during nailing operations
  • Tongue and Groove Planks — The primary material for the ceiling surface
  • Finishing Nails — Fastening the ceiling planks. Choose length appropriate for plank thickness and penetration into joists
