DIY BUILT-IN READING NOOK | NURSERY MAKEOVER
What happens here
For the shelves, use plywood panels. To mount them, create pocket holes on the back edges of the shelves using a Kreg Jig. This allows the shelves to be secured from the underside, hiding the fasteners. For the exposed plywood edges, use iron-on edge banding. Apply the edge banding by heating it with a hot iron (no steam), pressing it firmly onto the edge with a scrap piece of wood, and then trimming any excess with a sharp blade. Sand the edges with 100-grit sandpaper for a smooth finish. Finally, stain the shelves with Minwax Fruitwood and seal them with polyurethane using an HVLP sprayer for protection.
Goal: Create and finish the shelves for the bookshelves
