Deck Inspection Brings Our Job to a DEAD stop.
What happens here
Begin by using a skid steer to dig a trench along the desired path of the retaining wall. Ensure the trench is deep enough to accommodate the base course of blocks and a gravel footing, typically around 6-8 inches for the base and an additional 6 inches for the blocks. After initial digging, fill the bottom of the trench with a layer of gravel, approximately 3-4 inches deep, and compact it thoroughly using a vibratory plate compactor. This creates a stable and well-draining foundation for the wall. Use shovels and rakes to level the gravel and ensure proper drainage away from the house.
Goal: Prepare the ground and establish a stable, level base for the retaining wall.
