What's going on, YouTube? It's Hendy the Sparky electrician from New Jersey. Today, customer called saying that they want a level two electric vehicle charger install charge point EV charger in their home. So, come and see. We're going to get it installed. Service call. Charge point. Boom. All right. So, I'll go into the basement. You want to go in the basement or you want to take a look downstairs? I'm going to come down. All right. Take a both ladders, right? Cuz we don't need any ladders in here. No. All right. Just put everything in. Yeah. Yeah, boots are good for like commercial garage work. Yeah, got to put shoe coverings on for sure, especially in residential. Just come in and put it on. All right. Oh, wait. No, actually, unless you want to grab All right. So, this basement is partially unfinished. It has a drop ceiling, so that's good. We can get this uh wire ran. We don't have to cut the drywall. The only place you might have to cut the drywall is here. But I don't want to cut. You know, if I got to run a little extra pipe, I will extra. It's extra everything. Rox and pipe, but I don't want to cut. I don't want to cut cuz like I'd have to seal it. Yeah. Drill holes like Okay. Got it. Yeah. Here's the panel, guys. Here's what we're dealing with. Panel. Panel looks pretty full. Thankfully, the customer said that this breaker here, this 20 amp's not being used. So, we're going to take this out. We're going to put a 50 amp breaker in. It's going to be a GFCI breaker because the customer wants a a plug-in Nema 1450R receptacle. I want to come out like over here. Okay. Let me check. Uh let me see what We're going to dress along the We're going to dress it along that. Sounds good. So, those are going to go back. Nice. Put those back tiles in. Okay. Yo, ready? I'm going to tap here. Wait. You hear this? Yeah. Perfectly. You can come right there. Yeah. You're open here. ready. Yeah, you're good. I'll just Yeah, you're good. All right, guys. Here's our pilot hole. We had to make a pilot hole from the basement. That gives us a good, you know, idea of where to come out. Going to run our conduit all across here to the charger. Going to run 63 ROMX. 63 ROMX wire right here. Rated for 50 amps. Nemo 1450R outlet level two charger go there. Wire tub from Racketeers. Man, this thing is nice. Pulls the wire out. Nice. Okay, these are from Racketeers, too. XL wire dispenser. We're going to use those for the thhn wire, but this is going to be for the ROMX. Pulls it out nice and easily like this. Yeah, this thing's nice. Wire tub. Shout out Okay, nice. We just made it. Just made it comfortably though. Give me some slack. Yeah. Yeah. There. We need some tie wraps or something. Got it. Yeah, we just made it with the bar. Perfect. Tie wraps and come down with my my tool belt. Nice. Okay. Could be down here. I got it. Got it. Yeah. Just tie wraps. Tie wraps. Nice. This how you should hit your lock rings, guys. Take a flathead screwdriver and take a pair of pliers or lmans and slap it on. You know, slap it like you need. Slap it like it's your girl's booty. Cut the Bromax. I like to use a razor knife, guys. You should use a razor knife. And boom. Look at them fresh wires. Be careful with the razor knife. You don't want to cut the insulation. Make sure your boxes are grounded, guys. When you use a metal box, you have to ground it. So, I like to use a ground tail. you know, get these at Home Depot. They're already pre-made, so it's kind of nice. You don't have to, you know, finagle and make your own copper ground. right, I got the conduit up on the back side. Now I got to measure and do a 90° angle going to the charger over there. So I'm going to take my measuring tape and then I'm going to measure. So I got to be exact here. So when I do my 90° conduit bend. All righty. Oh shaking tape. Freaking tape. Sorry. Excuse my French. Oh god. Oh 42 42 41 and It's looking nice. Yeah. Nema's going in there. Nice. Nice fish tape going in. It's going around. You can see guys, conduits right over here. It's going around. It's going to go to this junction box XL racketeers. We got all our wires on here. Two six gauges, one 8 gauge for the neutral, and 10 gauge ground. We're installing a Nema 1450R receptacle. It's going all the way around. We ran 3/4 inch EMT on the wall to the Nema outlet. It's going right over there. So, the customer can charge both inside and outside. Yes, sir. And we're going to tape these wires and pull through the I'm going to leave them staggered. All right. Ready? Yeah. All right. We're just going to make it. Okay. Three, two, wait. Let me put it in. I got to put in first. Okay. Keep pushing a little bit. Keep pulling. You can pull now. Three, two, one. Give me like a loop. Make a loop. I got it. I got it. I got it. I'm holding. Three, two, one. Loop. Okay. Three, two, one, pull. Three, two, one, pull. Okay. Three, two, one, pull. Okay. Pull. Three. Two. One. Pull. It's a beast, right? Mashing the color to color. You twisted your alignments a little bit, right, Ken? I spin them with my hand like a mechanical connection and then Yeah. And give them like a little lime twist. One strand should be longer than the other. That way you can actually twist it. Yeah. A little bit. I mean, not that much longer, but twisting stranded sucks. Okay. You won't doubt your connections ever. I'm just like getting them good though. This and then letting the wire nut do its thing. The wire nut does it good. The blue the these blue ones are good. These ideal blue ones bug. Sorry. What? You're good. All right, we got our wire nuts. Oh, that's connected. Put it in the box. Oh, you want to check the box before I close it up? What? You want to check the box before I close it up? Yes. Nemo, let me see how you wire. Let's just show the wires just for the video. All right. Black, white, red, green. Black and red are two hots. White's the neutral. Green's the ground. And if those are saying like, "Oh, you didn't ground the box." Well, the ground's over there in that box in that junction box in the corner. And that carries the current here. Yeah. That car I'm not carries the current, but that carries it all here. So, there's no point in grounding this box. Mhm. So, just in case y'all like, yo, didn't ground the box. Oh. Yo, worst electrician hack. All righty. Almost finished. Home run. Look at this unit. Straight. Straight as ever. Can you give me the machines, screws? Okay. All right. That's nice. Nice. Niceness. You put the charging cord on. What do you like the cover? No, the Oh, yeah. Plugins in. Always recommend going hardwired, but hey, that's what we want. Yep. Exactly. Not what I want. Okay. Exactly. Man, that was a clean install. It's fresh. Elites wrapping the cord. Just trying to go by the Oh, you're going to need like a pen. Why? Label marker. Yeah. All right, guys. We're now in the basement. We are all finished. Just want to give you guys a recap what we did. So, here we have our electrical panel and we installed a 50 amp GFCI breaker right here because we installed an outlet. Anytime an outlet is in the garage, that is 240 volts. Has to be in a GFCI breaker. So, that's the code in New Jersey. And there, see our breaker. Uh, we tested it. Always test when you have a GFCI breaker, guys. There's a test button. All the breakers. Test it. Make sure. We already tested it. Here's our wire, guys. Uh, I just want to show you guys the recap finish. There's our wire coming in with a 3/4 in connector, and it's being ran the wood joist. All right. And it's being ran across over there and coming in here. You can't see right now cuz we covered it with ceiling tiles, but the wire is being ran up in here. Thankfully, the customer has dropped ceiling. And then in here, guys, uh here is our wire. You can see our 63 ROMX going out to the garage. We were actually a little tight on the wire, so we had to go up on the studs. If I had a little more wire, I would go on the wood over here. But we ended up coming out the garage. And then from here guys, we come out the basement and we install a junction box. We had our 63 ROMX in the basement and then we transitioned to a 3/4 inch EMT conduit running six gauge thhn wire. And as you can see, we kept it low, guys, keeping it hidden for the customer. And then it comes up and boom, right near the garage door. So this is a nice clean install. And we made sure that the outlet's on a GFCI breaker cuz in New Jersey it has to be on a GFCI breaker if you have a Nema. If you have a Nema outlet, I don't know what is like in your state. Comment down below if you have that code as well. You know, personally, I don't like that code because sometimes the GFCI interferes with the charger's GFCI. So, I always recommend customers to hardwire it, but we do what the customer wants. Um, overall I give this install a 10 out of 10. And um, we're Let's configure it. All right, guys. The charger is now finished. Now, I want to show you guys in this video. They don't really show this too much, but I want to show you guys how to commission the EV charger. So, basically, what you do is you want to download the Charge Point installer app, and then you want to click install. Okay. You want to make sure the cover is off and you want to scan this QR code. Okay. No, this QR code. Yeah. Scan the QR code. And then it's going to enter. It's going to connect with the unit. And then you're going to want to click plug depending on your connection. And then you want to hit GFCI breaker. And make sure you input the correct breaker rating, guys, because if you don't, it will mess it up. So, we have a 50 amp breaker. Yep. Click next. Complete setup. Boom, guys. We commissioned the charger. The vehicle says it'll be charging at a rate of 40 amps. So, that's it, guys. Time to put the cover on. And Yep. Let's get it. All right. Cover on. It's kind of a big install. Yep. All right, guys. We did it. See you on the next one. Charge point plugin. [Music]
