What happens here

This project details the process of installing two new electrical outlets in a detached garage to power a future workshop. The installation involves running metal-clad (MC) cable from an existing electrical panel, connecting the wires, installing a circuit breaker, and terminating the outlets, including a GFCI-protected one. The process concludes with testing the installed outlets to ensure proper functionality and safety.

Okay, day in the life of a 24-year-old electrician. So, today I wake up bright and early, 8 a.m. Customer saying they wanted two new outlets installed in their detach garage as they wanted power for their future workshop. So, first thing I do is I start running my 122 MC wire, which MC stands for metal clad cable from the electrical panel to the outlets. Now, we ran MC guys because anytime you're in a garage or in a location subject to damage, you must use MC cable as it protects the wire with armor. I use my rotosplit. Put on my snap-on connector. Insert my wires into the panel. About to install my 20 amp circuit breaker. Now, there are three conductors, guys. Black wire is the hot, also known as the power. White wire is the neutral, and green wire is the ground. Ground is always green. GG's. Remember that. Once I get my wires and breaker installed, I then knock out the blank on the panel cover. I put the panel cover on. Now, we're almost done, guys. However, we can't celebrate just yet because we need to finish terminating the outlets. The two outlets, the first outlet we installed was a GFCI outlet, also known as a groundfall circuit interrupter. And the second outlet was just a normal outlet because all outlets in a garage need to be GFCI protected, guys. So, after I put on the outlet covers, I flipped the circuit breaker on, checked to see I got the green light in 120 volts, and boom, guys, now we can celebrate. Customer is satisfied. And that is what a day in the life of an electrician looks like.
