Building My Dream Bedroom Media Center

What happens here

Pre-fabricated 1x1 corner round pieces are used to trim the outer edges of the media console structure. These are cut with precise mitered angles using a miter saw to create a clean, seamless look around the 90-degree corners. The builder highlights the technique of cutting mitered corners when the trim piece sits on its rib (as opposed to flat) to achieve a tight fit. After the corner trims are installed, a new baseboard is cut and installed along the bottom, completing the structural trim work.

Goal: Install pre-fab corner round trim pieces and a new baseboard to finish the edges of the media console, using miter cuts for seamless corners.

what's next the next thing is we need to start wrapping these corners i went to the hardware store and i found this it's like a one by one already prefab corners rounded over so what i'll do is i'll start wrapping the corners on the outsides and then with these i'm gonna have to do a little bit of miter so it looks like a fixed picture frame so to do these miters with these 90 degree corners it's not as easy as you think just because there's two different planes at first i thought i would have to lay it on its side like this and create a 45 degree cut and it just doesn't line up again i'm not a finished carpenter i'm just learning things as i go so after a lot of kind of guessing and trying to figure things out i've realized that you have to create a 45 degree cut when this thing is on its rib essentially the way it would sit inside the casing you make two opposite images and then it will hug it together being tight both on the inside and the outside of the miters miters came out so perfect i did have to take some time i think all in all just four pieces here took me roughly around call it maybe 30 45 minutes probably 45 minutes but you know we got it we figured out and i'm very proud of it all that's left right now is we're going to put a quarter inch round over here and a quarter inch round over there to help the transitions and then we'll wrap this puppy with our baseboard and we're ready for filling up all these holes that we just machine gun on there
