Building Headers on Street Outlaws Shane's NEW Blackbird Vega

What happens here

The creator demonstrates the fully TIG-welded driver's side header. He picks up the finished piece, showcasing the clean welds and the intricate bends, noting that he's 'starting to really get the hang of this stainless stuff.' He emphasizes that the individual primary tubes are welded into a collector, creating a robust and functional component. The next step is to remove the temporary tape, fully weld the tubes to the flange, and add small mounting tabs, as requested by Shane for ease of maintenance or future modifications.

Goal: Complete welding of the driver's side header and add mounting tabs

Tools and materials

  • Exhaust Flange — Mounting the header to the engine
  • Mounting Tabs — Securing the collector and allowing for modularity
  • Stainless Steel Exhaust Tubing — The primary tubes and collector
  • Welding Gloves — Hand protection during welding
  • Welding Helmet — Eye and face protection during welding

very warm up here I've been sitting here most of the day just finished welding these primaries up just got the driver side done came out pretty good I'm starting to really get the hang of this stainless stuff yeah they're all hot like this and then I'll bring it over here put it back together I get it this side there's nothing over here now this side I already did so stick it in there stick that in there and now I got a weld the tubes of the flange and put the little tabs on here these things I welded mine the whole way around but Shane wants to use these tabs just in case you know something gets screwed up or hits something or whatever you could pop the collector off and just change it then you don't have to redo the whole header so that's what I'm gonna do they're all
