What happens here
This project details the process of creating and applying a custom vinyl decal, featuring the 'Dr. Evil' character and 'BIG TIRE' text, to a vehicle's rear window. The decal was made in response to a minor scuff on the vehicle and as a humorous jab at the 'Big Tire' racing class rules, into which the car's moderately-sized tires were categorized.

(5,564 characters)So, I'm here in Auburn Hills, Michigan, just adjacent to Pontiac for Roadkill nights. And I'm actually missing Street Car Takeover Maryland right now, which kind of stinks. It's fun to hang with your bros, but this is pretty cool when you get to drag race on Woodward, and it might be the last year that they're able to do this. So, couldn't pass it up. Just unloading the Escalade in this nice hotel parking lot that I'm not staying at, but they don't know that. I'm camping in my trailer. Got to get this thing out of here, change the front tires back over to the Hoosiers because they don't fit between the wheel wells with the the big wide radials on there. I didn't even bring the welds cuz uh this event requires DOT tires, and my bias ply slicks on the bead lock welds are not DOT, but these 18-in GMC wheels with the DR2 Hoosiers are DOT. So, before you ask if I got rid of my welds, I didn't. I just have two setups. Let's get them on. No problem during transport. One of my tires fell down and scuffed up my air dam, so I never leave the garage without some extra vinyl. Throw on a quick band-aid. So, if you're wondering what's going on here with that and this vinyl cutter, I got moved to big tire class in tech today because I have big tires, which is complete nonsense. They're not big tires compared to like the big tire like Tom Bailey's type car. But so, we're making this decal for my back window to troll them when I show up tomorrow to race in the big tire class with big tires. Yeah. They're never going to let me back in. You'd be the first person ever to get kicked out of Roadkill for trolling Roadkill. First test cut of Dr. Evil here on some black vinyl. We're going to do the real one in orange so everybody can see how angry we are about being in big tire. Uh first come We just We just cut out Dr. Evil for the first time. You got what? Dr. Evil. Oh my Oh my god. This Wait, let's see it. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. I present to you big tire. That's way too good for a test piece. I know. We can't waste it. No. Joe, where does this one get to go? Cuz we can't waste this. Why is he just a test? Just use him. Well, cuz you can't put black on the black window. Yeah, it's really good. I know. We spent way more time on this than we probably should have, but would it even have been worth it though? It's totally going to be worth it. I know. Would it have even been worth it if we didn't spend time on it? Oh, no. That that would not have made a good story at all. Exactly. Pictures last forever, and there's going to be a lot of this. Black. You can push him down. Like push him down. Yeah. Yeah. The lines are pretty straight on the thing. Use it for reference. You want to do that? Right over his head. Uh closer to his head, yeah. Like right there. I don't know. You're good. Stab in the middle. Yeah, look at these big tires. They're so big. Maybe we should make a little tiny one that says tech inspector. I'm here in the pits right now with my super fresh big tire race car. That's a pretty sick font. Where'd you find that? I don't know. You know the deal. I know the deal. I share the deal. So, the first pass went pretty good, as you just saw. I left with it probably 3 lbs, which isn't very much. It'll make more if I can stage properly, which this way works pretty cool cuz I can run up to the line first, and since it's a guy just pulling you in, I can get there, do my rev, get my foot down, build the vacuum cuz it I have vacuum brakes, and I can leave harder that way than I can on a drag strip in a heads-up scenario. But now we're in line for round two. I uh added a little bit more air to the bags in the back cuz I'm going to leave harder, and we'll see what happens. Why am I rolling down the shut down when there's no power? You know the deal. It's broken. I guess we get to find out what it is now. We're getting freaking pushed to the end. Oh, boy. Uh the golf cart can't even pull me. They are holding up the entire thing. This is great. This is the walk of shame. She dead. Output shaft's broken again because I went to leave with more boost than I did last time. And it doesn't work when you get dead hooks on the street, I've been telling myself I'm just going to take it easy. It's better to, you know, finish the event than like try to win, but I can't. I can't do that. It's not in his blood. I I can't do that. I literally I was in the boost duty table, and I typed in 45. And I'm like, no. 42. That's percentage duty cycle. I'm like, just I'm going to back it down a little bit. I'll do whatever I think I'm going to do, then back it down. Didn't work. I still broke it. I can't participate. I have to I can't I can't hold back ever. It's just not not how I work. And it sucks because I'd rather be racing right now, but I guess it's time for a 400 that much quicker. So, the gate staff kind of screwed me. They didn't really know what they were doing. They sent me in anyway, and I had to come all the way up here to not block the only way to the lanes. So, now I'm parked front and center next to all the Roadkill cars, and uh I took a dinger in the roof from the train track thingy because it started beeping, and I couldn't see it come down cuz it was on top of me. And uh Dolcetti actually came in and saved the day after it it dinged the roof, but I was able to back up the rest of the way. And uh yeah, now I guess I got a front row seat to these races until I can come back through here, do a U-turn, and go out to my original spot where I wanted to load. But I'll never forget that. Nice dent.
