Exploring ABANDONED Route 66 with My Racecar! (Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma)

jeez SoDo that's cool all kinds of old parts in here still too new that'd be cool this one doesn't even look like it's that old Hale 269 nothing's going on here a long time that's crazy yeah Bond Street looks pretty poppin right now it says no parking but for some reason now like anyone's gonna care really I am I was like there might be one person to list there where I don't know it says no trespassing that one is anyway rest of its not it's called man ain't as cold as it was I can't sit no it's not nearly as bad I think I read that there's like seven people who still live here or like in the zip code lead on their truck outside [Music] if it were just me I'd walk around here for a little longer and probably get shot but for the better of it he doesn't want to stick around so we're gonna keep yelling um it's 3:45 in the morning I'm in the middle of nowhere huh yep looks like there's stuff in there and stuff falling down don't feel too much like getting squished by something right now I wonder when they took these pumps out [Music] do it the glass isn't even broken that's crazy looks like a fuel pump freiburger was here like phone books and stuff if it was daylight I'd go shuffle through that and see if I could figure out what the date was and stuff like that but I don't want to do that because I think that there's like a trailer thing back now it looks like it's inhabited by somebody and I'm not trying to get a shotgun pointed at my head it's 4:00 in the morning in the middle of nowhere we're gonna keep going taking the scenic route through New Mexico there's no phone service out here like it all I've been on a 1x4 like the last 20 minutes which is kind of unnerving because you know something happens I don't contact anybody because there's literally there's nothing out here nothing at all I had the option to take this road which kind of goes like up and above Amarillo versus i-40 which just would go that way and then I shoot up from there and I took I took this road because I've seen i-40 before I want to take the roads that I haven't taken because now this is a little corner of the country that I have not seen that I will have now seen come across a little like abandoned buildings every now and then they're pretty cool so I'll stop check them out so if I see anything interesting I'm gonna stop and we'll get out and walk around it I just like to know that I think this road is smoother and more comfortable to drive on than I 40 I'm not kidding I just came across this little gas station here in there a visa New Mexico similar band and stuff over there I figured I'd pull in here and check it out palms are still here 86 octane I've never heard of that before all we got 88 over here there's so much of this stuff I just don't see we take main roads for old cars in there DeSoto that's cool I wonder when this place closed anybody happens to know anything about anything here in this obscure corner of New Mexico please let me know because I think this is pretty cool I would like to find out the history of these places after I stumble across them it makes the experience more interesting that guy was kind of looking at me funny but I think he saw me pull out a camera and figured I was just you're gonna take it in and not ruin stuff which is what you should do just saying if you are gonna go look at stuff like this don't ruin it for other people just look at it take your pictures and leave apparently I forgot to put my gas cap back on or fuel cap because diesel and that's great hope you enjoyed your laughs you can vaguely make out it says standard on there I I was I've never seen a standard oil gas station in my lifetime that was operational probably close like the 80s or something and there's still dolls on the shelves parts back there clock that ran out of batteries and was never replaced somebody used to come here every day go to work talk to their friends make money that's crazy to imagine I think about the places that I frequent every day and imagine them you know 4050 years down the road looking something like this and have it just be nothing just a normally or what some would consider an eyesore which is not the case it's not only happens once if you don't appreciate the history of it it's just gone onward we go you know you drive 20v data out of town and it's back to nothing now we're on the way to shamrock Texas I think it's what's called I heard that was where Kent Locke film the last Gymkhana with the truck so I guess gas station take pictures from dude there's not a single car out here except for me literally nobody I've been on this road for freaking 25 minutes I have not had another car passed me I haven't seen a cow I haven't seen a bird like damn I'm freaking God looks like there's actively used buildings over there this is crazy I don't know how places are overcrowded like look how much room there is out here like we don't well this out here we're just nothing just he's just chillin just lost a large bin lid exploded Drakkar take over mercy faith good not so much sorry dad I've gone to pull over and stop at a handful of places I thought were abandoned but they're not there I don't know if they're active like Aires owned by somebody and they keep their crap in there they look abandoned I said neglected more or less where taxes here people will point onto you if you're not worried that were supposed to be you got something cool going on here looks like a abandoned football field maybe could have parked closer to the entrance eyes I wasn't thinking about that shut up Siri Belton Webb arena fiber optic cable okay me I don't know what that was it was like a just like a rodeo place or something now this is not known for footballs is for like horses or something like I don't know anything about horses but I think they like hop over barrels and whatnot maybe this is like rodeo I thought there were like lights on there is this holes in the roof like there's no way nothing's going on here a long time got lights and everything I should get Cletus out here and see if they'll fire up I feel like somebody probably still owns this place probably that farmer over there I also don't know if I trust that erector set looking stairs I kind of got somewhere to be okay it's probably empty anyway transformer box I was like concrete over there wonder if that was like a little stage for a band or something back in the day huh do some more digging on this one back in the truck and if this is any indicator there's probably gonna be some more stuff on the way so let's go see I think this is McLean 540 like it's hard to tell what's abandoned and what's just neglected out here Museum now I'd say this whole town's of Museum ooh that'd be cool dang knock down stuff over there piece of something so I turned around for this motel place here I can fence flapping over there thought that was somebody what you're looking at horses mind your business I got two thousand more than you okay kind of glad it's locked would have been freaked out to ghetto in there anyway that's where you find bodies this place is probably popping back when route 66 was out here doing it I don't want to be prosecuted I just want to highlight American history cool bro all right hopefully off the shamrock now actually hopefully not oh I like to find something else equally as cool it benefit to be was another person in this scenario like this cousin back up if you got caught snooping or you know step on something hurt yourself flying solos not yeah but all I got [Music] glad I turn around those neat I do some research on that place - GPS is telling me to merge on the ivory then turn right to merge onto i-40 East yeah how about no I'm not gonna do that you can miss some cool stuff Percy - the road shut off God enjoy point eight miles take a slight left turn to merge onto i-40 East know some of these sections of old 66 are some pretty nice concrete hurt they work pretty good for tests it's not that I would know how chased and Ronnie found a gas station this is why I didn't hop back on 40 this one doesn't even look like it's that old that guy owns his place he's about to shoot me or if I just gather the Doppler I don't think he's affiliated with this place but it could be and there is a fence there waived all right I'm going in having this thing on a trail that really gets me out a lot of suspicion I think because I think they know I'm not some piece of crap who's gonna vandalize stuff and I'm just like here look at cool things trash cans still full they just closed up shop like down we're not gonna take out the trash browsers leave it here it's for sale well sick it's gonna set up shop here something going off my gut those lights look like they're 70s or 80s could be wrong well it looks like this place was big rig friendly to some extent because they got like I'll pull around things through here it's buzzing up there so that's cool all kinds of old parts in here still too old Colorado Rockies coke bottle oil filter bunch of oil filters and spray paint and Fram boxes anybody able to date locate the like the era the MasterCard logo look like that drop a comment let me know that'd be one way to figure out last time this place had any effort it put into it the paving here is totally gone so it's uh it's been a while this place haven't been ravaged too much probably because unlike most abandoned places in urban areas 99% of people drive right on by never stopped to look at anything like this ah cactuses cacti and I'm just clapping around here like I don't notice I'm glad it and step one of those how about these logos here that MasterCard one looks newer than those I almost wonder if that back half of the station would shut down before this because all this looks kept up much better in the back it's not near as over ground three boxes I don't know what level that could be I don't the color scheme was reminiscent of Texaco I don't know let's keep rolling got another one this one's a lot tinier now this one made been a Texaco - 69 yeah they definitely got creative that's the bottom of an eight but appreciate the effort bro whoever hit that young man got some barrels and stuff back there a tiny little place nothing but piece of steel or rock covering that hole you know it's funnier than 24 25 I'm not sure exactly what that is anybody work with gas stations they could tell me what that is there I'd like to know how this stuff works been closed down for quite a while too cuz this is all grass now heck I'm no expert spa scible cookin gravel the whole time I don't know what this was like out here back in the day I dunno gas to 69 years oh we got a big old bomb here apparently that looks like storm cellar brother he goes down in that thing tell me what you find for real my intent was to hop over there you're a little town called Lela or Lela or something but it looked like that matt said that crossover was close doesn't look like it is so good father John was here father son and holy gas station Amen yeah weren't they late let's see we can pop over there thank dude not freaking 45 seconds nail under there he would be more careful this place very overgrown you know the deal let's keep going so this is shamrock it's a freaking third-gen Camaro sitting back there it's like people in these places but they're abandoned so yes I'm not gonna stop back cuz I just don't I don't think that's a good idea Connor Lodge must have been abandoned Motel there dort down which way do I want to go it'll turn right I'm not gonna pull out calm your tits same pocket our next stop here is actually not abandoned at all it's a shame maca Larry's house we're gonna go check up on him in the Vega see
