Exploring ABANDONED Route 66 with My Racecar! (Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma)

What happens here

The explorer opts for the scenic US Route 54 instead of I-40, specifically to discover new and interesting places. He expresses concern about the lack of cell service in this remote area while driving, emphasizing the isolation. He then stops at Nara Visa, New Mexico, to investigate a former Standard Oil/Chevron station. He notes the old gas pumps, which still display 86 and 88 octane (explained as typical for higher elevation regions), and finds old cars (DeSoto) and parts inside the main garage building. He reflects on the historical significance and calls for any local knowledge about the place, stating he likes to find out the history of places after he stumbles across them.

Goal: Discover and document a historic gas station along a less-traveled route

Tools and materials
