Budget Turbo Yukon: I Got the CHEAPEST Crossover Manifold on the Internet! Uncle Rob Gets a Hot Side

What happens here

The creator introduces Ashton, a technician at Triple Seven, who has a similar single turbo setup on his GMC Sierra. Ashton explains his turbo setup: a VS Racing 75mm billet wheel turbo on a 4.8L engine, stock heads, stock intake, a Sloppy Stage 2 cam, PAC 1218 valve springs, and a good transmission. The creator highlights that this is exactly what he wants for his Yukon – a functional daily driver setup.

Goal: Examine an existing daily-driven turbo setup for inspiration and validation.

daily driver and see how it's set up that's all he wants he wants more chop he wants shopping uh dinner yes we need more chop tanner i can't hear you just give me more chop his turbo's in almost the same spot it's bigger though what's the turbo setup on it it's a vs racing uh 75 millimeter billet wheel um it's pretty much it's just a big single turbo it's 4.8 liter uh stock head stuck intake sloppy stage two cam pack 1218 valve springs and a good transmission that's pretty much it yeah this is this is pretty much exactly what the yukon's gonna be but with a smaller smaller turbo the right size turbo is it that's how i call it everyone says smaller i say the right size really call it the right size that's what it wants that's what the engine combination wants so interesting take note people bigger is not always better because they told me robert at force performance said that turbo is expected to work perfectly with a stock converter stock 5.3 like it'll light up be fun under the curve and stuff what makes this one not the right size turbo the back housing is too big for the size of the engine the cubic inch is too small basically so it's not pushing enough air to actually spool the turbo as fast as i'd like it to so is this a little slow yeah power band is up about 4 000 it lights off and i think it's really interesting that he brought up the distinction between smaller turbo and the right size turbo because that's a really important thing that a lot of people overlook it's like what what is your combination going to be what is it now what is it going to be what's more important to you because the same turbo that you're going to put on a stock 5.3 is not the same turbo that you're going to put on a forced bottom end 6 liter whenever you want to make 1000 horsepower it's not going to behave the same it's not going to light up the same that's why i got this turbo from force performance it is configured to be the ideal turbo for exactly what this is which is a stock 5 3 with a stock converter it doesn't need to be like idled up to light off or anything it's going to make power under the curve it's going to make torque and it'll work perfectly with this lame brain stock motor which is exactly what we want for a daily driver
