What happens here

Before planting, prepare the soil in the designated area. Using a Kubota KX040-4 mini excavator with a bucket, excavate a trench or wider planting area along the fence line. The goal is to loosen and amend the soil significantly. The narrator emphasizes the importance of making the soil below and around the root ball soft and easy for roots to penetrate, rather than just backfilling with the same native soil. This prevents root binding and promotes healthy growth. He then uses the excavator to blend the loosened native soil with black dirt (organic matter) to create a 'black soup mix'. This mix will provide a fertile and easy-to-grow-through environment for the new trees.

Goal: Create an optimal soil environment for tree growth.
