What happens here
This project details the process of receiving and assembling an OverEZ Chicken Coop (XL model) for an off-grid living setup. It showcases the challenging delivery of the heavy, pre-assembled components using a Bobcat skid steer, the unpacking of the kit, and the step-by-step construction of the coop, highlighting features like easy assembly, nesting boxes, and a human-sized access door. The video also briefly touches upon the off-grid lifestyle of the recipient.

(18,814 characters)[Music] we're not lifting them by hand [Music] we bought a greenhouse and a chicken coop from over easy chicken coops and I'm sure glad they package them well [Music] oh I think she's okay [Music] [Applause] [Music] tonight oh wow we'll find out if she's got any damage this way the same way yep over to that side to reposition the back follow me the clothes out of the way yeah you like that yeah foreign [Applause] thank you [Music] nice work I'm at ABC Rental chickens you wouldn't think of it as your chicken store would you how are you Chris I'm good well you have a crate I do I gotta just take mine and just bring it back whenever I don't I have like 50 of them things okay because if they if one gets out yeah we're not catching it okay there's four hens and a rooster in here oh awesome these guys should be okay in the in Minnesota here oh God yeah inside out of the in the winter so they don't freeze their Combs off hello chickens are you building a coop at your house too no I got a coupe built there oh okay yeah so if crap hits the fan yeah I'll grab some chickens and I'll I'll keep eating oh absolutely yeah I don't I mean I don't have it set up right now but we'll just stick these inside here you'll want to um you want to give these guys a little water I don't need to get home okay I threw a little food in there and I don't know what she's gonna feed them that's just um crumble layer feed and crack corn okay and then I I do oyster shells as well okay because that keeps the the Shell's heart helps keep the shells of the egg cart okay oyster oyster shells oh oyster shells for the calcium I'm guessing right okay there's no other trailer I could have loaded these on because they're too long for my Forks without fork extensions to come in from the end and do it so I can't lift the pallet up that way yeah that worked out wow hi Zach oh my goodness not just one chicken they're all different colors too that's so cool he said don't let them out don't let him out because you'll never catch them but chickens you gotta get them out of my truck because they smell yeah right now poor babies sure I'm sure you'll figure out what to do with the poop cupboard you said there was three hens and one yeah and one of them is laying two hens won't lay yet four in there it should be four in there oh my goodness that's so cool they made the trip everything made the trip yeah yeah oh the home place is coming along after we get them up yeah all right they they actually can crap out of the cage are they shooting it out at you they shot it up I had them in my I had him in the house back in the cities and there was chicken crap on the floor outside the cage somehow and poop can be used as fertilizer right yeah big chicken operations I'll use it and throw it on the fields yeah yeah well I'm not a big chicken well I know but it's the same concept okay so Thomas is working on a little um temporary thing for them for tonight because that's gonna be built tomorrow right we're gonna work out tomorrow yeah okay he's working on like a pallet thing right now so I can put them in that right because they don't get out yet there's no squished in here they're two squished yeah if they get out they're going to be coyote food but let's go see what else we got maybe we got something else so these chickens are actually for my daughter who has so far successfully lived completely off the grid way back out in the woods with no power no electricity no running water and through the third harshest winter in Minnesota History yeah the data you can tell I'm pretty proud of her I didn't expect her to make it through the winter but man they did living in a yurt but now she wants chickens because she wants her to establish her own source of food so Let There Be chickens [Music] thank you [Music] okay so we're gonna go look at the chickens okay and this is where you and Thomas survived the third harshest winter in Minnesota History is right out here in in that year now this winter was the worst I've ever seen in my life and up here was really bad compared to what but let's see your chickens let's go chicken chicken time well you gotta stick the camera I guess in the little hole right now okay I'm a little nervous I'll get out they were making some crazy noises they seem happy okay come on chickens I've been giving them all sorts of snacks like apples and what's their names okay so the rooster is foghorn the rooster is the Big Red One fog horn okay yeah and then the little red one is Pippi Longstocking okay so that one there's picky long socking Lindsay Adams is in the corner and the other guy is a dandelion and clover which one's dandelion which one's Clover dandelions got like of black pink tails I think I'm opening which one which one is the no feathers on its back bird yeah I think that's dandelion I'm guessing that happened when it came over here during the travels or or was it already like that one I don't know [Applause] I don't know but I do know that Tracy at home they need well they need a chicken Cooper so they're going to be free range can you show us that you're you're living how you guys survived well this is the garden first that we've been working on it's mostly like tiny sprouts and skis right now because we got here so late there's like 10 men projects we're always trying to do but got here so late meaning what we were in Missouri for the spring okay so we weren't here during Optimum planting season there's pumpkins you almost just that you did your stuff I stepped over I didn't notice the sticks amongst the other sticks like open my house type of thing thank you Hello kitties kitties kitties hello little tiny kitties you are so perfect and this is it this is where you guys made it and here's your second you're using a Timber stove as a backup and then you've used the zanduri all winter long yes and here's the home I just really hope they don't poop in there [Music] he'll jump and hang his two arms off this and like slide around so he's like this like [Music] I just like to like dragging that's dumb you want to see why he's only got three little legs but he kills it he plays with all the others where's Legolas well this is like a list it's dump Legolas oh okay yeah okay but then there's Nubs he doesn't have but they all healed so good and they're great [Music] three kittens just come to Northern Minnesota and pick one up yeah see if you bring some tools you'd have a knife I don't know if time was fun to save that oh yeah cut the corner there wait wait wait wait yeah just take it off as it is because once it's cut we can't uncut it if you want to save it I didn't know that's a great air conditioner cover or could make a is it yeah and if you don't want it we'll just burn it but hopefully hopefully this thing held up okay foreign [Applause] [Music] [Applause] yeah that too yeah I'll give you that too so they don't get lost that's whatever you you remember where they are yeah that's extra paint to touch and then Keys oh here's another set they give you three sets of keys for it there's another set of keys lock them up from people that are chicken thieves yeah so this chicken coop comes pre-assembled meaning it will go together like a set of Legos it's already got all the panels the nuts the screws the bolts everything you need to put this together is actually all set up for you it could not be an easier system this chicken coop handles up to 20 chickens and is made by a company called over easy chicken coops they also make the greenhouses and we're going to be putting that together in a future video but let's check this out so they come in with the screws even set yeah how's that nice there yeah that makes it super easy windows are already set in place is that the roof panel yeah yeah oh yeah roof panel all right did the heat to keep it you know inside yep the roof comes already pre-ruffed yeah roof is already on set okay so we want to just get it once we get a level spot basically what we need to do foreign that must go on this side so they'll come out this side because of them see I'm gonna get swung around this because it won't it won't sit on top of here this sits right on the floor where's the hatches though for the eggs Which side will those be on and that's what those are I think is there yeah these are the egg pops so you can pick the eggs out of them yeah yeah so that's seem to go in and out of here you'll pick the eggs out of these [Music] so you can see them yeah that's that's where they get in and out right here will be yeah that makes sense [Music] [Laughter] 30 minutes yeah exactly it's a neat little shed I mean it's it is it's well built yeah two by threes I mean what the heck oh yeah that's it two by three oh yeah yeah a guy can put tape or abort another board cut a board to put it in the bottom or something or [Music] make sure okay now we need uh the back wall kick it over there you go Indian yeah okay right on the bottom don't push on the door this push on the frame if you can okay [Music] well not too much maybe you're like right here [Music] I gotta screwdriver to back my truck use it like a pry bar what is it we'll use it like a pry bar you need like a screwdriver to get in there to try that out oh uh yeah there's a little orange uh bucket there it should be in that well we're set on this side so it's just that side we gotta get yeah I would put yeah straw hay chicken coop for the soul we got a little bit of a gap down there but yeah and then I mean it's right here and well I can probably pull it together a little bit on when I there but it's there yeah all right there yeah okay when did you get company in here look are you gonna cuddle in here with the chicken I did see a picture of a Colorado mountain dog and all you could see was this fat face because it was surrounded by like 30 chickens like in a cuddle puddle a cuddle puddle yeah because they're a lifestyle Guardian so I'm really hoping she'll do that okay cuddle with chickens that's on my bucket list is I want a dog that cuddles with chickens so the kids have their first Garden in here but they spent the spring in Missouri visiting Thomas's parents so they missed the spring planting season it is what it is family for stripe and here's where they survived oh well summer long they cut up wood and then they store it underneath the yurt and that's their deck they don't have a hand railing on it by choice because they don't have to worry about anything except for themselves falling off no electricity no running water I did it delicious I never had anything quite like that like you're probably not not red it's got a very very kind of flavor yeah is it that's called it let's see him he does all right no I haven't tried any yet I know but I want another one all right look at right behind you behind you wow it is time right now wow isn't that the best color you've ever seen though damn and they taste nothing like any blueberry you would buy a lot a lot better tasting huh oh my goodness the medicine that is in wild blueberries yeah there's more right here you're stepping on your blueberries almost here's the baddest blueberry well there's a whole bunch over there and right there some more [Music] what's these like we should go blueberry to liking they're all blue I guess there's a lot of blueberry plants on the little hike to the Island the island over there yeah yeah we went there last year remember yeah [Applause] it's chicken time chicken time it's chicken time it's time to grab some chicken chicken yeah how do I do this I don't know you guys built your chicken shed how do you unbuild it yeah so I'm going to do is open this a little bit do you want me to lock in no hi guys are you ready to have a new home upgraded oh my God can you get inside he's starting to freak out I don't want him to scare him no move I don't want to scare him and have them run away well just go grab a chicken I'm gonna wait till they go in there they're not gonna go in there seven years later she finally has enough courage to go into with the chickens not scared of the chickens I'm scared of them escaping especially Foghorn this is your new home we're just gonna spoon feed we're gonna drip feed spoon through the top for you and your chickens you should lock me like me just just grab a chicken you're not trying very hard Wednesday's right there if that's try just grab them just reach them underneath the rooster come on grab the rooster then they got nowhere to hide then no you your significant other is having a hard time catching chickens yeah come on here's some chickens right here oh they're gonna get out they're gonna get out Thomas you gotta watch that chicken hole we don't want to hurt you okay there's there's two in there maybe I should just give you guys two and then all right he's gonna die [Laughter] yeah they're getting through these holes in here well then get your chickens in there too I'm trying dad can you close [Applause] you're not gonna catch them Zach or Thomas just skeet your head get your get your hands in there hen house you want to get in there or maybe you'll be better one at a time transporting it and do another one yeah she's got she's got three in there you go now put her in firm but gentle simple now you got all your hands right oh he says as he does nothing [Laughter] is it wrong to laugh at somebody that's mad hey you just walked through your garden Thomas okay this is your new home oh hopefully it's all shut in there and everything is I don't think they could get out they wouldn't get out the screen Windows would they you're in the path that she wants to force them to you chicken on the loose I want to be a healthy chicken we just let them let them tune into his chicken girls so here's the nest boxes so you can just walk straight up grab your eggs right out this chicken coop probably took us what a whopping two hours to put in place it's got windows that actually operate so with the screen on it let's get a metal roof it's got a chicken door a little chicken ramp so you can put the chickens in it's got a human door on the other side without a human ramp it's up on legs metal roof and here as we go inside watch out chickens you got your roosting bars right there and then you got your nesting boxes right there right chicken oh yeah like chicken are you a little good chicken you got a chicken butt oh yeah yeah there's your new home it's a nice home it's got an insulated ceiling look at she's already picking out her favorite nesting box she's like I want that nasty inbox huh this is the over easy chicken coop chicken coop for the soul the XL model all right well we'll let these guys have fun Jake chasing down a rooster and we will see you guys on the next video I should Chase it down of course I should I'll I let it go of course I did that's what happens when you have kids you get ready for everything the dad gets blamed for everything I could have been in a different state that would have been my fault I could have been like five states away dad what the heck oh the joys of parenting but that's it for this one God bless you guys and go get them we got more coming at you though um we're gonna be out in the woods for a while we're gonna be building a greenhouse next and we're going to be hand pounding in a well no fancy smashy stuff we're just gonna hand pound one right in so make sure you guys stick around for that God bless go get em you guys no chickens hello the chickens are all home and there's eggs holy buckets there's already eggs oh my gosh Cassidy there's two eggs oh you put an egg in there's one egg production and I guess it works I guess it did work Moment of Truth are you guys doing the the thing you're supposed to do oh eggs so this white one is is the one I put in there Ah that's a cool color glorious yeah those are buddies those are buddies so there's your first egg here this is the color compared to a traditional I don't know how they get so white before it's a little small well this one's huge though you want to see oh yeah it's brown it's so cool good color yeah so maybe I should keep this one in there then it's a good luck egg I think it worked or uh start so you got one egg in there and maybe move the egg over to another spot move this egg no this is the egg I put in there oh you're gonna keep that egg or should I move it to like the spot your side yeah just search okay yeah I did I came in here yesterday and this spot was um like pushed around so the chickens were using that one who are they do you see them you see um she still hasn't really read them well hello you egg laying chickens hello hello Foghorn is home okay so we decided we're gonna build a fence around this for them oh the free range we're gonna do that for you for your transition period or I think we're just gonna lose them all after yesterday oh my gosh that was like so hard to get in we ended up cornering him at the pond down there we both had those two giant Nets and then I finally like had the moment to put my net over him and my heart was like yeah we sandwiched them and carried them up and I don't ever want to lose him again I was thinking maybe like a fence area on this side somehow connected and we can hang out with them and have sleepovers with that chicken that's what I want to do I have a cuddle puddle with our chickens and you get to look through the window that these windows actually operate I know it's weird that they don't from the outside though like to close them I gotta go in there they're not strange I think that's not strange because that way you can lock the door then nobody can get into your chicken coop it's usually locked already but yeah yeah these are all lockable so yeah that's nice chicken protection so what are you gonna do with that first egg of yours I'm gonna freaking eat it and that is gonna put it an end to this video she's gonna go freaking eat her egg and uh then hopefully she doesn't eat it too long because we're in the middle of hand pounding a well in and we're gonna start building a greenhouse as soon as you're done eating your freaking egg yeah could eat it raw just for you or just cook it they're actually really good in coffee and that's gonna do it for this one God bless go get them you guys catch you on another one look at the old man down there hey old man you have two Young Bucks standing there waiting to do that work what I said you have two Young Bucks stand in there you're sure the pounding doesn't exist that's what Zach and Thomas are there for and Cassidy they're the Pounders you just direct them I don't feel right though if I don't help I know you don't I know you don't God bless go get them you guys do you want to see what we're doing go to our well pounding video we are legit pounding Wells
