What happens here
Take the new replacement cartridge (Moen 1200 or 1225). Apply a light layer of silicone grease to all the rubber O-rings on the cartridge. This helps it slide in smoothly and creates a better seal. Align the cartridge so the 'H/C' marking is facing up, and firmly push it into the valve body until it is fully seated. Re-insert the retaining clip you removed earlier to lock the new cartridge in place.
