What happens here
First, shut off the main water supply. Then, prepare for disassembly. Pry off the decorative cap from the center of the handle. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screw securing the handle. Pull the handle straight off the valve stem. Next, remove the two screws holding the escutcheon plate to the wall and pull the plate away.
