What happens here

This project details the process of replacing a leaky outdoor spigot with a new frost-free model, including cutting an access hole in the interior wall, installing a shut-off valve, connecting PEX plumbing, and ensuring a watertight exterior seal.

This is a short video I put out the other day trying to fix a leaky hose bib. Well sometimes repair doesn't work and you got to tear in the wall. So come along. Let's get to fixing. So we marked out the hole where the pipe should be in the wall. And now we're going to pull out the fine multi-master. Alright, that's bad boy. Make light work of this. You just push that in. Locks that blade in place. So here's the scenario for sure is that we would have twisted that right off. Had we tried to remove this. It's actually soldered in place. So we'll get a little bit longer of a bib. We'll put an access panel in here and we'll make it to where it's going to be super easy to actually change this out. Come over here to the valve. We'll close this. And we'll just start opening everything up. We bought an OD8 by 8 panel. But we're going to pop that bad boy right in here. Just going to measure that out a little bit more real quick. And that should work out for accessing this if we ever have to get inside there again. That's what that ends up looking like. Looks pretty good when it's all set and done. I don't know how far I want to go back yet. See what this looks like. Probably going to put some pecs in here. Alright, just screw that out. Push this. They did this so jacked up. Okay. Oh, wow. That's some type of repair. You can see that a repair has been made right here too. I really don't think this is how these are made. This is very wonky. This is a 10 inch frost free hose bit by Woodford Brass. And this actually is just going to fit straight up in our hole. No problems. So we're going to get to right here. I'm going to solder on a pecs fitting. Then I'm going to put a shut off valve right here. And then we're going to connect this. We'll get it all hooked up right here to pecs. Okay. Once that's screwed in over there, we should have no problem. Use our whirly bird. We'll grab some open-ended mesh cloth. And we'll get the ODI fire shielded while it makes sure we don't burn anything out. Put a type A pecs adapter onto this bad boy. Let's get that all scored up inside. No corroded flux. Let's look at this bad boy with the inspection mirror. Alright. So for an easy change out, we're going to go with a female by pecs adapter right here. I'm going to use some Teflon. We're going to use some mega lock. And we're going to put a valve right in the middle of this. So here's another tip. When you go to start this project, you're going to put this in. Just go to the very top of this. And put a mark. That way, when you come through the wall, you know exactly where the top is. You go right in tidy, lefty, loosey on this. Go about five wraps with this white stuff. It's kind of what I like to do. A little mega lock. Go with some cany pecs cobras. And some of these cany pecs pliers range. We will pop a little shut off valve right in there. And we're going to be good to go. Like this is going to work out really well. Careful not to chop a thumb off. So with these little pieces like this, here's how I like to do it. Oh gosh. Yeah. Too slow. You got to be fast with this one. Get that rolling. Get that rolling. Drop your pecs guy. Take this right here, one on one side, one on the other. And get that straight up right there. And then we just make sure our line is lined up up top, right there. And we're going to be good to go. Okay, so we got to take the handle off. It's a flat head screwdriver. That way we get a direct shot at these screws. One thing I know, Woodford brass makes quality hose bibs. All right. It's Batboy's got a built-in vacuum breaker. It is brass colored and it actually matches the house a little bit better. Pretty awesome. You can go ahead. We're going to crack this valve just a little bit. And now we'll check everything for leaks. Okay. Crank that on, test it out. Everything works. Let's take a little clear silicon ice coke, put it right up in here. That'll dry up nice and clear. And we've got an access panel right here. So that way, if the frost-free hose bib ever leaks, we've got a shutoff valve right here and we can change it out. All right, folks. That's what I've got for you today. I love what a repair works, but sometimes you got to do replacement getting the wall. And if you've got to get in the wall, why not add some access and maybe a shutoff valve? I really hope you folks are enjoying the videos. Thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon.
