What happens here

This DIY project demonstrates how to transform polished brass door handles into an antique-looking finish. The process involves removing the existing lacquer coating through boiling with baking soda, followed by an acetone wipe, cleaning with a Scotch-Brite pad, chemically darkening the brass with a specialized solution, and finally oiling and reinstalling the hardware.

what we're gonna do is we're gonna boil some water, one tablespoon of baking soda, per one quart of water, door handles off, and we're gonna get that lacquer off. See that? That lacquer is just dripping off of this. We're gonna take a little acetone, get the remaining lacquer off of this brass. Scotch bright, burlopad. And what we're gonna be using today is this brass darkening solution. Darkens new brass to give it a rich antique look. Definitely turning the different color. And these things are looking awesome. So as the solution gets a little bit weaker, it takes a little bit longer. Right, look at the contrast. It's like dip in it and chocolate. Who wants to join me for some brass flavored fondue? We're rocking and rolling. They're all oiled up. They're looking sweet. So we went from that polished gold color brass to this awesome antique brass.
