Extract the Old Cartridge

What happens here

Before extracting the cartridge, you must remove the U-shaped retaining clip that holds it in place. Locate the clip at the top of the valve body and use needle-nose pliers or a small pick to pull it straight up and out. With the clip removed, use a specialized Moen cartridge puller. Thread the tool onto the cartridge, then turn the tool's handle to pull the old cartridge straight out of the valve body.
