Always Be Sure To Lock Your Garbage Disposal!

folks that fix a guy here today we've showed up on a gnarly leak from a garbage disposal yeah you're thinking drain thing not an actively well I can tell you it had leaked a little bit it's very funky you can't you can't even begin to describe the smell but I'm gonna show you how to take care of this I'm gonna show you how to prevent this issue from ever happening to you so after this video you're gonna know what to go look for and make sure this never happens to you so come along [Music] [Applause] all right so this is what we roll up in you can see all the cabinet damage that it started to do and you can see right there around the ring where the disposal actually connects to the flange it's starting to rust out and there's just all kinds of crazy stuff in there we'll get it closed up I'll put a link in the description box below for my video how to prevent water damage to a cabinet because putting one of those extreme mats in the bottom of this would have saved all this damage for the cabinet okay so this is three years old and in three years this piece right here is actually wiggled loose it was not fully secured so when you tighten up a garbage disposal you're supposed to take this thing right here and you're supposed to make sure it's actually setting right against there so this little flange right here actually spins the whole way around right now it can it's just so much gunked-up and so rusted up we're going to go ahead and we're going to pop this off and I'm going to show you exactly what you need to do to prevent a situation like this [Music] [Applause] if you're looking for a garbage disposal install video I will put a one in the comments below because I don't really have space in here to actually put my camera equipment and me [Music] so once you gets up in the place right here this little piece right here is gonna kind of start going up this ramp you wanna make sure you got all those together and they all just kind of start going up that ramp so the secrets of this is going to be that you want those touching that is how you're not going to have an issue with this leaking the way that it just did you take your nifty disposal wrench that comes with it and you can just kind of work it over to where it comes right up next to it you can see it's really close right here I can put my finger through it right now and when we finger right in between those two things but if you want to avoid the other you need to do this right here take a pair of channellocks bigger 440s work out really well give yourself a little bit of a gap there and just grab and squeeze and you see now I can't actually put my finger in between there that is the difference and so don't forget to also test the dishwasher make sure there is no leak anywhere on anything when you leave so if you're looking to avoid a situation like this make sure you do this all right so we're wrapped up here everything is good to go it's put back together we swapped out the disposal tested for leaks I'll put a link for the tools and material used in the description box below I'm also gonna put a couple links for some videos one video is how to prevent water damage to your cabinet those extreme mats would definitely help avoid this situation and you'll be able to do some discovery before damage that will 100% help and I will also put a link for the garbage disposal install hooking that up in a little more detail so I really hope this video helped if you can please subscribe to the channel it would be greatly appreciated you have any questions leave them in the comment box below thank you very much
