Almost ready to pour the slab!! #building

What happens here

Once the subgrade is compacted, a layer of crushed gravel (typically 4-6 inches thick) is spread over the entire area within the forms. Workers are shown using wheelbarrows to transport the gravel and then rakes and shovels to distribute it evenly. The goal is to create a uniform layer that will provide drainage and further support for the concrete.

Goal: Establish a uniform and appropriately thick drainage and support layer.

Tools and materials

  • Rakes — Leveling the gravel to a consistent height
  • Screed Board — Efficiently leveling the gravel base across the forms
  • Shovels — Spreading and distributing the gravel evenly
  • Wheelbarrow — Transporting crushed gravel to the patio area
  • Crushed Gravel — Creating a drainage layer and stable base under the concrete
