Almost ready to pour the slab!! #building

What happens here

Before adding the gravel, the underlying earth (subgrade) within the defined formwork needs to be compacted to prevent future settling of the concrete slab. A plate compactor is shown being used to achieve this density. The ground should be evenly tamped until firm.

Goal: Create a stable and non-settling foundation for the gravel base.

Tools and materials

  • Plate Compactor — Compacting the earth subgrade to create a firm base
  • Shovel — Making minor adjustments to the subgrade level before compacting
