$500 Tire Groover Versus $6,000 Equipment tires

What happens here

The groover's blades will dull over time. To replace a blade, use the provided Allen wrench to loosen the screws holding the blade in place. Carefully remove the dull blade, ensuring not to touch the sharp edges. Insert a new blade, aligning it correctly, and tighten the screws. The depth of the cut can also be adjusted by sliding the blade further in or out before tightening. New blades offer superior cutting performance, sliding through the rubber with less effort.

Goal: Change dull blades on the tire groover and adjust the cutting depth as needed.

[Music] okay sam is changing blades let's see how you do this thing now it even comes with an allen wrench okay so you just loosen those up a little bit well now what were you noticing with that old blade just quick cutting right or what yeah just quick cutting right it it seems like it'll get to a point there's some hard spots on here from where it wasn't sitting in there and i i've noticed after it's getting real hot after a little while it can kind of warm the blade it took about an hour and a half per tire and we did all four tires on the sledge just with the sample pack that was included with the original machine but how many tires did that blade do uh that would have been a little over one okay but it's cold too so i mean you did one of these so that's that's saying a lot well i did i did a whole tire well i did one and probably about one and a quarter tire on the first one and probably about one total on this on on this one so then you get they got different notches in there i can't remember if i have to change it for this one with the sharp part goes forward okay so there is a forward in the back so if you look real close underneath sam's nose pickers you can see these sons of guns these things are sharp too so yeah they'll watch you watch yourself when you're putting them in there and then you can set the depth pretty deep on here you can have them you know if you're going through something real deep that's about as deep as you can set it with these blades that we have oh so you can set the depth just by adjusting just by sliding it up and down yep so this is about where we've been that's about where i've been doing it at right right about there so changing blades is a moment in time oh yeah it's not a big deal and they last pretty good yeah yeah but a blade costs
