Splitting big Hardwood

so we divide into two teams while frankie's cutting the wood up into bite-sized chunks the rest of us are bringing over to the splitter and then carrying it in and stacking it inside [Applause] [Music] um now this splitter guys will lay down flat just like we have it here that's the way we prefer it but you can also take it from flat and stand it straight up and down so some of the bigger logs we could literally just shove into place but i don't know we just got set into doing it like this and just kept going you know sometimes it doesn't make sense but you're already just in a habit of doing it one way and i don't know we just never change things up this was the first time that we were we'd fired up this log splitter yet this year so she's running a little rock you're wondering but as soon as it starts to get under pressure she smooths right down this log splitter has never failed on a log no matter what we put at it not i don't care what kind of wood it is it's always gotten through it [Music] so i'm trying to roll the logs over so frankie can continue to make the cuts seems like my family up north all like their woods split into real small pieces now when i burn i like thicker stuff i like to have some beefier stuff that i can throw on and it'll just sit there and kindle for a long time these guys like their wood to burn and so we're building this wood for you know up north where frankie's working so we're gonna make it the way he likes so you can see how many pieces we got out of one log this is pretty soft wood not quite seasoned right i would an ideal world i'd like to have it seasoned a little bit longer i was saying about six more months maybe i don't know i'm not a wood expert by any means i burn it but i can't look at one go oh yeah that needs 128 days to season like some guys can do i can't i just know this feels a bit today's drinks not so bad san pellegrino momenty i have no clue clementine and peach kind of tastes like the mimosa you like orange juice and champagne it tastes a little like that without the zing which i don't like the taste though but i like sparkling waters which kind of is like water that tastes like alcohol that's what my son says he's like why do you like them waters they taste like alcohol i guess they kinda do in a way [Music] you know so instead of lifting that big log if i would just put two and two together i would have remembered i can flip that splitter up so as this as the head pulls back there's actually a brace that keeps the log from going all the way through and actually we'll finish cutting this one up in just a bit see that split like a harder wood just a nice clean split not so stringy it almost looks like walnut but i don't know what it is so what is this darker wood you guys can identify it and then the whiter wood which is not this was what we were splitting before what is that i don't know this log splitter just has never failed in years and years [Music] so they make what's called kinetic log splitters i'm sure some of you guys are very familiar with them um if you're not it's a log splitter that slams out and uses speed and impact force to cut through the log [Music] where this just uses pressure now kinetic log splitter is a thumb cracker as you can imagine it's like a guillotine [Music] they're pretty fun though super fast [Music] those though can get bound up easier than these [Music] but they're still pretty good if you're not tackling monster logs like this stuff a kinetic log splitter might be something just so awesome about splitting wood you guys is it just me or just i mean a video doesn't do it justice right i mean just getting out there and splitting wood for the day look at frankie smiling it's just something satisfying about this work here's that log i started on before [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] it's a toro ls 922 with a honda engine and this is a commercial [Music] it's a like toro sells these to rental companies and stuff i guess is what my understanding of this thing is i don't know how i got my hands on one but i love it [Applause] oh we got shout outs let's do them right now shout outs three boy reboy lots of ease in that one okay special shout out to john glauca he's always asking me to say hi to the team the team just wants you to know they're very grateful for you watching and so happy that you're always telling them to hide make sure that i told you high back there you go baby bells ranch veggies sorry i started to read my wife's uh shopping list okay i did zachary blakey alex outdoors and hal zapat so [Music] so question the machine sounds you guys like that because that was almost mesmerizing to me after a while just listening to that engine in the background was kind of cool so when he switched to music i was like whoa what's going on but i don't know i love sequences like this just love watching the start to finish and how things happen like right now like why do you have the forks parked so close to his head i have a gopro mounted on top of it right above him i tried to get it so that it was over to the side so if you know you know if something happened the whole machine tipped or whatever nobody could get hurt underneath it you'll see the cameras mounted literally on the forks frankie would find an excuse to shovel anywhere he went he loves shoveling it's his relaxation [Music] we got more stuff stole what happened nothing but i said what i told you so it's got someone from the farm oh do you know what they took no they took we'll tell them oh they took the exact same thing they sold last time trucker trailer you got it back from the cops they stole it again oh my god not joking not joking it was on there it was on a trailer and not the whole truck either it's just they're just a good part wait wait wait wait wait wait time to start from the beginning though because the truck was on this trailer for about a year just like at least should have had a big sign saying steal me because it's like when it was in the field i mean yeah but i mean it was bad or especially around here they came in and stole it and then you tracked i found it yup you tracked it down the sheriff came out but they had here's the deal it was what was it silver and rat they painted it yeah it was it was a it was a red truck but now it was a deep blue yeah painted it blue when he got back and that was all in parts now it wasn't there transfer case transmission um and uh and the cab on the on the trailer i think that's all sitting over there yeah and then or the box was on it but then they come back got the trailer and all the good stuff on there so yeah so then he got it all back and then left it there and then they came and stole it again probably the same people probably the same people oh yeah well he just got out of jail too that guy that stole it the first time oh well he got out of jail because of this yeah i think that mystery just solved itself hi frankie i see you up there then yeah yeah because the taillights all work and stuff i checked it the other night okay i'm gonna grab that stuff okay and put it and bring it over to the burn pile oh okay on the other other farm right yep that's that's where you want it right yeah okay [Music] so what do you mean no it's not a nice one what's it worth nothing oh i bet how many how much money an egg is 4500 [Music] i was gonna demolish and just throw away yeah he stopped and he would go over on his own time oh yeah and he would i mean i'm like what are you doing todd he's like you don't mind if i go in the house again do you and i'm like yeah i don't care what are you doing like i'm picking rocks out of the [Music] all right boys left and i was uh asking sam and alex what the name of today's video is going to be and sam said oh he's got it so let's find out what it's going to be he said i'm not sure if uh splitting big hardwood is going to be the name of today's video because uh most of it was
