2 Ways To Add Dual Shut Off Valve Under Kitchen Sink!
What happens here
After removing the old valve, you will be left with the copper stub-out, usually with the old compression nut and ferrule still attached. It is crucial to remove this old ferrule. The presenter explains that new valves often have different internal depths, and attempting to reuse an old ferrule with a new valve can lead to improper seating, a gap, and eventual leaks. To remove the stubborn old ferrule, a ferrule puller is recommended. This tool threads onto the stub-out and uses a nut and bolt mechanism to extract the ferrule without damaging the pipe. Tighten the puller's nut with a 1/2 inch socket wrench until the ferrule slides off.
Goal: Inspect and prepare the copper pipe stub-out by removing the old ferrule and compression nut to ensure proper seating for the new valve.
