To prevent water from flowing while you work, shut off the water supply to the filter. If you have them, close the ball valve on the inlet pipe and the ball valve on the outlet pipe. Alternatively, the Culligan filter head has a built-in bypass. Turn the large blue handle from the 'FILTER' position to the 'BYPASS' position. This will stop water from entering the housing and divert it around the filter.
