Starting from the top of the staircase, the homeowner carefully installs each stair tread. She begins by peeling off the protective plastic film from the adhesive backing. The tread is then aligned precisely with the previously marked tape lines, ensuring the back edge is flush with the riser. Once aligned, she firmly presses the tread onto the step, making sure it adheres well, especially over the bullnose (the rounded edge of the step). This process is repeated for each individual stair tread and for the larger custom pieces on the landings. The homeowner notes that the adhesive is designed not to damage the existing hardwood stairs, making it a suitable option for temporary or non-permanent installations.
