Once the shelving unit is fully assembled and structurally sound, it's time for sanding. Use an orbital sander to smooth all rough surfaces, edges, and corners of the wooden pallets. Pay extra attention to areas where you made cuts or where the wood might have splinters. Sanding will not only improve the aesthetics of the unit but also make it safer to handle and use.
