Unscrew the black plastic retainer nut. Next, use a small tool or screwdriver to carefully pry up and pull out the U-shaped copper retainer clip that holds the cartridge in place. Grab the stem of the old cartridge with a pair of pliers and pull it straight out of the valve body. A dedicated cartridge puller tool may be needed if it's stuck.
