Step 3 · Remove the Escutcheon Plate
This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.
Remove the escutcheon plate (the decorative plate behind the faucet handles). This is usually held in place by screws. Carefully unscrew and remove these screws, and then gently remove the plate itself. Be cautious not to damage the finish.
