Step 7 · Check the Garbage Disposal

If you have a garbage disposal, first ensure the power switch is off. Look into the disposal drain (using a flashlight) for any visible food debris or foreign objects. If you see something, use tongs or pliers to remove it. If the disposal is jammed, you may need to use an Allen wrench to manually turn the motor shaft from the bottom of the unit (check your disposal's manual for specific instructions). After clearing, run cold water and test the disposal.
