Step 5 · Clean the P-Trap

Place a bucket or basin directly beneath the P-trap (the U-shaped pipe under the sink) to catch any water and debris. Loosen the slip nuts on either side of the P-trap using channel-lock pliers. Once loosened, carefully remove the P-trap. Empty its contents into the bucket and clean the inside of the trap with a brush or rag. Reassemble the P-trap, ensuring the slip nuts are tightened securely but not overtightened. Run water to check for leaks.
