Step 5 · Reassemble the Faucet Internals

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Begin reassembling the faucet in the reverse order of disassembly. First, drop the stainless steel ball back into the faucet body. Make sure the small slot on the side of the ball aligns perfectly with the pin inside the faucet body. Next, place the new plastic cam and packing (from the kit) over the ball. The small lug on the cam should fit into the notch on the side of the faucet body. Now, screw the dome-shaped cap back on by hand until it is snug. Use the channel-lock pliers (with protected jaws) to give it a final quarter-turn to tighten it securely. Do not over-tighten.
