Step 3 · Replace O-rings and Washers

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Inspect the O-rings and washers. These are often the cause of leaks in compression faucets. Replace any that are worn, cracked, or damaged. Apply a small amount of plumber's grease to the new O-rings before installing them to ensure a watertight seal.
