Step 4 · Engage the Clog

When the drain snake reaches the clog, use the locking mechanism on the snake handle to secure the cable in place. Begin rotating the handle clockwise. This action will either break apart the clog, allowing water to flow, or it will hook onto the obstruction, allowing you to pull it out.
