You won't believe this! Why's oil look like MILK!!!

What happens here

To prevent future water contamination, ensure all rubber boots on shift levers and other openings (like the PTO shaft boot and lift arms) are in good condition and replaced if dry-rotted or cracked. Keep the lift arms lubricated to maintain their seals. Ideally, store the tractor in a shed or under cover to protect it from rain and excessive moisture. Avoid washing the tractor excessively with high-pressure water, as this can force water into vulnerable areas. Regularly check the hydraulic fluid for milky appearance as a proactive measure.

Goal: Implement preventative measures such as regular lubrication, replacing worn rubber boots, and storing the tractor in a shed to avoid water entering the hydraulic system.

What they say

Hide

and it also enters through the lift arms right here so keep your lift arms lubricated and that'll keep most of the water out these two boots need to be fresh and nice and that boot back there needs to be fresh and nice or just keep your tractor in a shed or they're going to get water and their transmission is going to turn into a milkshake not cool so on these tractors here is where you check your transmission fluid the dipstick has about had it right here however we can still see the dipstick and the dipstick is showing full so we're good to go awesome this normally will have a hook on it it goes right down in here some of the newer tractors have an adjuster right here that will adjust the speed at which the hydraulic system works here is our new shift boot we're going to take we've already took the grease gun we squirted a little grease in there we'll rub that grease around just a little bit and we'll remove the shift knob just unscrew this guy slip off our crusty old look at that nasty look at the new one let's compare the two you know you're getting water in through that big hole right there you just know it okay so toss that guy to the side wipe this one off a little bit and we'll slip this boot right over top of the shift knob perfect now we should not have water entering our transmission anymore you can also leave a bucket over top of both of these shifters and that will help too cool this is a once every five to ten year job right here that needs to be done on these old tractors this is probably the original rubber boots that we're on here the last thing we're gonna do is get rid of this crusty steering wheel that is actually dangerous to use pieces of the steering wheel are flaking off of the wheel so we've got a brand new fancy shiny uh steering wheel to go on this thing out of the old oh that came off way too easy oh fingers crossed this isn't a nail it might just be that simple i don't know [Music] don't want to damage this while i'm trying to take it out all right all the beating and banging i figured it out so i've got a pry bar underneath the steering wheel right here and i just tap the little keyway while i push with my elbow on the pry bar and magically i'm gonna drop this keyway i know i am ah it's tapered so that's what's making it there it is okay so the keyway isn't square it's like a half moon shape that got it off though bye now i know what to do if you need to replace the steering wheel in your tractor now you know what to do also…
