Willys Jeep Rescue...starter problems!! 30 years of grime!
What happens here
After realizing the extent of the starter's internal damage and the incorrect rebuild kit, the decision is made to take the starter to a professional rebuild shop. While the starter is being addressed, attention is turned to other neglected areas of the Jeep. This includes inspecting the fuel tank (which surprisingly holds fuel), the fuel filter (found to be extremely dirty and corroded), and the gas cap (rusted). The choked is also noted as being stuck. Other components, such as the speedometer cable and heater controls, were previously removed due to being trashed. This step emphasizes the systematic approach to bringing a long-dormant vehicle back to working order.
Goal: Develop a comprehensive plan for repairing the starter and identify additional critical maintenance needs.
